Pepsi SAKURA flavor to be launched in Japan
We’ve had green tea and even the recently announced sake flavors from Kitkat. There was also that thing of putting pudding on ramen and even Cheetos flavored with Mountain Dew. The land of anime and the rising sun has come up with lots of strange, weird food trends, both appetizing and otherwise, so what else can we expect from Japan this time?
Well, how about Sakura flavored Pepsi?
NicoNico News revealed that the beverage company Suntory will be releasing this seasonal variant on March 8, the “Pepsi SAKURA”, which would be just in time before the start of the annual sakura viewing in Japan.
“Pepsi SAKURA” which is of a pale pink just like the color of the blossom where it was derived from, along with a sweet cherry aroma has been characterized in this cola whose colors are reminiscent of cherry blossoms. The package has been designed in a way that the word “SAKURA” is layed out on black background, giving it a high impact look.
Pepsi, so far has been known to release other unusual flavors such as the green cucumber flavored “Pepsi Ice Cucumber” in 2007 and white with mandarin orange flavored “Pepsi White” in 2012, and finally in 2014 they came out with “Pepsi Cola Pink” , which has the flavor of strawberry milk. Apparently, it seems to have become a tradition to come up with such limited edition flavors.
What can you say about the new Sakura flavor? Is it a yay or a nay? Do you think you would want to try it? Or would you rather pass? Let us know by leaving a comment below! ^_^
