The Last Guardian coming to the PS4 on 2016!
Fumito Ueda’s The Last Guardian has been announced for the PS4 at yesterday’s Sony E3 press conference. This is awesome news for gamers who had been eagerly waiting for the game ever since it was announced on E3 2009.
The Last Guardian appears to be a puzzle platformer that involves two characters cooperating with each other to overcome obstacles; a boy and a giant baby griffin. The level design as shown in the trailer looks amazing and is reminiscent of past games like Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. The gameplay pretty much recalls how ICO is played with the playable character (the boy) shouting at the supporting character (the baby griffin) and giving directions. The boy is also able to hang onto the griffin’s feathers and climb up its body just like Wander in Shadow of the Colossus. The character design is also reminiscent of ICO with the boy being rendered in cel shaded 3D but with added details such as tattoos running over his arms. The baby griffin’s feathers ruffle and flutter at the wind, giving the game a sense of altitude and excitement.
We hope that Sony makes good with this announcement. The Last Guardian is due to come out on 2016.
